About Nancy

As a free-lance book editor, author and coach with over 20 years of experience in the commercial book industry, I have helped hundreds of authors reach their writing and publishing goals.

My background includes a BA in English from the University of Massachusetts and an MA in English and Theater Arts from Columbia University, as well as study abroad at Oxford University and a TESOL certificate in English as a Second Language. I started out as an editorial assistant with Viking Press and later became a medical editor at the University of California at San Francisco. Along the way, I picked up skills as a grant writer, advertising copy writer, and curriculum developer, working on projects to increase education and awareness for people to improve their lives. More recently, I received training in coaching people to achieve their goals through Landmark Education leadership programs, where I led seminars on personal growth and productivity to over 500 people.

In addition to being a free-lance book editor, I was an adjunct instructor in ESL at Santa Barbara City College for 20+ years. I currently live in Montpelier, Vermont, with my husband Richard, and have cofounded an online & live training company for editorial professionals, Editorial Arts Academy.
